Funeral services for Ruben Tippens, 67, of 1103 S. Jackson St., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the South Union Baptist Church, the Rev. T.L. Dilworth officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Mr. Tippens died Sunday at Veterans Hospital in Temple.
He was born Oct. 5, 1914 in Palestine, a son of the late Joe Tippens and Lillie Tippens Holloway.  He attended Banks Elementary School and Lincoln High School.  He was employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad for several years and later was custodian for First Presbyterian Church for 30 years.  He served in the Army during World War II, from 1943 until 1946.  Mr. Tippens was a member of South Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Princella Smith Tippens of Palestine; an uncle, Nulum Patterson of Dallas, and three aunts, Mrs. Beaudie Gunnells of Dallas, Mrs. Bertha Smith of Palestine and Mrs. Lula montgomery of Richmond, Calif.
