John B. Thompson, Sr.

Born:  18 June 1900 - Jacksonville, Rusk, Texas
Died:  28 1970 - Palestine, Anderson, Texas

Mr. John Thompson, Sr. was born in Jacksonville, Rusk County, Texas, to Robert and Laura Thompson
He united with the Sweet Union Baptist Church at an early age.  On moving to Palestine, Texas, he united with the Antioch Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until his passing.
May 1, he married Miss Aletha Marshall, and to this union seven children were born.  His wife and one daughter preceded him in death.  In 1944, he married Miss Sarah Davis.
He departed this life August 28, 1970 at early dawn, leaving to mourn, his wife, Mrs. Sarah Thompson; three sons, John, Claude, and Frank Thompson all of Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Smith of Palestine, Texas, Mrs. Doris Moore of Longview, Texas, and Miss Lillian Thompson of Los Angeles, Calif.; one step-son, Bertram Jones, San Antonio, Texas; twenty-five grandchildren; one great-grand daughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
