According to Palestine Police officer Richard Handorf's report,Ms. Lovings may have fallen asleep at the wheel of her 1987 Ford Escort as she was driving east on West Oak Street at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

When the vehicle left the roadway about one-half mile outside the city limits, Ms. Loving overcompensated, cuasing the car to roll over three or four times, Handorf's report said.  The car came to rest about 40 feet from the street, the report said.

Ms. Loving's body was thrown about 70 feet from the car into a nearby creek, the report said.  She was pronounced dead at Trinity Valley Medical Center.

A passenger in the car, Todd Howard Sharp, 21, remained in the vehicle and suffered only minor injuries, according to the report.
