Born:  24 January 1912 - Gilmer, Upshur, Texas
Died:  1 September 1986
Father:  Bert Lovings
Mother:  Lula Ellis Avery

Services for Harlan Lovings of 614 Giraud St. will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Church of Christ on Salt Works Road with evangelist Norvil Cottingham officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Mr. Lovings died at his home Monday following a sudden illness.

He was born in Gilmer, the son of the late Bert Lovings and Lula Ellis Lovings.  He attended school in Gilmer.
He was a model setter by profession and formerly worked at the Palestine Tile and Concrete Plant.  he was also a sculptor and did carvings in wood, plastic, stone, clay and bronze.

He studied art at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts.  His teachers included sculptors from France and Gemany.

Mr. Loving is survived by his wife, Elesteen Lovings of Palestine; a son, Harlan Lovings Jr. of Houston; a daughter, Inger Joye Lovings of Palestine; a granddaughter, Ashley Nacole Jackson of Palestine; a sister, Martine Blackman of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nephews and nieces.
