Paul Lawrence Lacy Sr.

Born:  23 September 1920 - Palestine, Anderson, Texas
Died:  5 April 1996

Mr. Paul Lawrence Lacy, Sr. was born the sixth child of seven children, on September 20. 1920 to James Abe and Ella Burgess Lacy.  A native of Anderson County, he spent his childhood and adult life in Palestine.  He was educated in Palestine Public Schools.

He united with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at an early age.
As a young man, he was called to serve his country in the United States Army as Technician III during World War II.

His employment years included Missouri-Pacific Railroad as dining car chief and later as painter in the local railroad ship.,  Intermittently, he was a manager for Meadowbrook Country Club.
For many years, he was a local member of the Knights of Pythias, Hearts of Oak Lodge 39, where he served as Master of Works.

On April 14, 1939, he joined the late Eddie Mae Woods in holy matrimony, a union that lasted fifty-four years.  To this union five children were born.

He is preceded in death by:  his parents; three sisters, Ruby Williamson, Lucille Tyler and Bernadine Pugh; and one brother H.A. Lacy.


He leaves to cherish his memory:

Paula Lynette (Donald) Lacy of Palestine, Texas
Two Sons:
Paul Lawrence (Cathy) Lacy, Jr. of Garland, Texas
Milton Haywood Lacy of Palestine, Texas
Two Sisters:
Corinne Sheffield of Palestine, Texas
Jimmie Word of Palestine, Texas
Twelve Grandchildren
Eight Great Grandchildren
A host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
