MEMORIAL CEMETERY
ANDERSON COUNTY, TEXAS

Eddie Mae Woods Lacy

Born:  4 June 1919
Died:  22 November 1993
Spouse:  Paul Lawrence Lacy Sr. - 14 April 1939
Father:  Eddy Woods
Mother:  Beallo Woods

Mrs. Eddie Mae Lacy was born the second child of three children on June 4, 1919 to Eddy and Beallo Woods.   A native of Anderson County, she spent her childhood and adult life in Palestine.  She was educated in Palestine public schools, graduating from Lincoln High School.

Her Christian walk began at a very young age when she joined South Union Baptist Church and continued there in faithful service until early adulthood.  She later joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. H.I. Phillips and served on the Usher Board, sang in the choir and was a member of the Missionary Society. She was an exemplary woman portraying the Christian virtues that many aspire toward but few obtain.  In her own quiet way she became a source of spiritual strength to her family, church and many others seeking to find the Christian way.  In her later years when faced with failing health and continuing predictions of doom she became a living example of faith and prayer.  She lived a life that defied all odds and shall forever be remembered as a woman of faith.

On April 14, 1939 she joined Paul Lawrence Lacy, Sr. in holy matrimony, a union that lasted fifty four years.  To this union five children were born.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddy and Beallo Woods, and her brother, Odell Woods.

She leaves to cherish her memory a faithful husband, Mr. Paul Lawrence Lacy, Sr., Three Daughters:  Ruby Faye (James) Page of Palestine, Texas, Theretta (David) Rollinson of Garland, Texas, Paula Lynette (Donald) Lacy of Palestine, Texas
