Services for Sarah Janet Wilson of Palestine will be at noon Friday
at South Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert W. Holmes
officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery under the
direction of Davis Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilson died Sunday in Houston. A native of Neches she was the daughter of Tom and Nettie Brown Jackson. She attended Flint Hill High School. She was a member of Brown Springs Baptist Church until she moved to Palestine and joined South Union Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher, member of Usher Board No. 2 and Mission No. 2. She is survived by her husband, William H. Wilson, Sr.; sons, William H. Wilson, Jr. of Dallas and Leon N. Wilson of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Bettye Wilson Brown of Sylmar, Calif.; a nephew she reared, James Robinson of Houston; brother, George Jackson of California; sister, Zola smith of Houston; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Friday. |
Sarah Janet Wilson was born at Neches, Texas to the union of Tom
Jackson and Nettie Brown Jackson. She attended school at Flint Hill High School in the community where she grew up. She united with Brown Spring Baptist Church at an early age and later she united with South Union Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the Usher Board #2, member of Mission #2, and she also served as a Den mother. She married Mr. William H. Wilson, Sr., July 12, 1941 and four children were born to this union. One son preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Mr. William H. Wilson, sr.; two sons, William F. Wilson, Jr., of Dallas and Leon N. Wilson of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Bettye Wilson Brown of Sylmar, CA.; a nephew, Mr. James Robinson of Houston; a brother, Mr. George Jackson of Calif.; a sister, Zola Smith of Houston; eight grandchildren: two great-grandchildren: a host of nephews, nieces, and friends; a special nephew, Billy Miller of Palestine and niece.
