Mrs. Ruby C. Taylor West was born to the
union of the late Henry Taylor, St. and Evie Mils Taylor on November
3, 1909. She was the first of three children born to this
union. A sister, Eloise Taylor and a brother, Henry M. Taylor,
Jr., preceded her in death. Mrs. West was an active member of Mt.
Vernon A.M.E. Church from early childhood, serving in various
departments of the church, including the choir, Sunday School, Busy

attended Fred Douglass Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln
High School. She was a trusted and valued employee of the
Sunshine Laundry during its ownership by J.L. (Jakie) Boyd.

families for many years. She united in holy matrimony with Mr.
