Ray McArthur Wade

Died:  12 September 1985 - Medical Center Hospital - Tyler, Smith, Texas

Services for the Rev. Ray McArthur Wade, 40, pastor of Asberry Chapel Baptist Church in Palestine, will be Tuesday at noon in the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. T.L. Dilworth officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral home.
Rev. Wade was born July 29, 1945 in Daingerfield, son of the Rev. J.F. and Ruby E. Marsh Wade.  Rev. Wade died Thursday in Medical Center Hospital in Tyler of a short illness.
Survivors include daughters Rachael and Rhonda Wade; sons Ray and Ronald, all of Fort Worth; parents; sisters Freddie Scott of Houston and Mittie Johnson of Angleton and brother Mark M. Wade of Boston, Mass.
The family will receive condolence calls from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ray McArthur Wade was born July 29, 1945, to the union of Rev. J.F. and Mrs. Ruby E. Wade in Daingerfield, Texas.  He joined the New Hope Baptist Church in Daingerfield at the age of seven.  He became president of the B.T.U. there.  He attended school through the eleventh grade at Rhoades High School.  The family moved to Clarksville, Texas, where he finished Cheatham High School with second honors.  He moved his membership to the Zion Traveler Baptist Church there.  After high school graduation he attended Texas Southern University School of Pharmacy, Houston, Texas for two years.
In 1964 he married Janice Black of Clarksville, Texas, and to this union foru children were born:  Ray McArthur, Jr., Ronald, Rachael, and Rhonda Wade.
Upon moving to Palestine he united with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where he remained until death.  He accepted the call to the ministry while in Los Angeles, California, on November 27, 1975.  He preached his first sermon at the Bible Fellowship Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
When he returned to Palestine he was called to pastor at the Asberry Chapel Baptist Church in 1981 where he served until his death.
Rev. Ray Wade leaves to mourn, his parents, Rev. and Mrs. J.F. Wade, of Palestine, Texas; his sons, Ray, Jr. and Ronald, his daughters, Rachael and Rhonda, and his wife, Janice, of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Freddie Scott, of Houston, Texas, Mitting R. Johnson, of Angleton, Texas; one brother, Mr. Mark M. Wade, Sr., of Boston, Mass.; four aunts, three uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends.
