James Charles Russell was born to the
union of Mr. Hugh Russell and Mrs. Mable Glasgow Russell on
September 29, 1948 in Anderson County, Palestine, Texas. He
was the fifth child born to this union of eight children. He united with the Mount Vernon A.M.E. Church at an early age, during the pastorage of Reverend E.E. Coates. James Charles Russell received his Elementary Schools and later attended A.M. Story High School. He served as Private First Class, in Company C, 2nd Battalion, 18 Infantry during the Vietnam conflict. he entered the service in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He departed this life on Sunday, August 30, 1981 at the Medical Center Hospital, Tyler, Texas His survivors include: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Russell of Palestine, Texas; one daughter, Dana Russell of Oakland, California; five sisters, Mrs. Frances Thompson, Mrs. Ivey Jackson, and Mrs. Patricia Williams all of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Vada Morgan Fogel of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Bobby Russell of Palestine, Texas; two brothers, Carl Russell of Palestine, Texas and Sergeant Dave Russell of Korea; also many uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. |
