Services for Mildred Lucille Davis, 63, of
1007 South St., Palestine, will be at noon Wednesday at West Union
Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald R. Lacy officiating.
Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Davis
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ruffin died Friday at St. Mary's
Hospital in Rochester,Minn.
She was born in Houston on Jan 10, 1925, a
daughter of Maude ____Davis and George Spencer. After her
parents died, she was reared in Palestine by her grandparents, Al
and Senora Davis.
She graduated in 1941 from Lincoln High
School. She married Nay Butler in 1942 and had one daughter,
Senora Butler. Later she married Ollie Ruffin.
For most of her adult life, she lived in
Houston and was a member of Mount Corinth Baptist Church. She
returned to Palestine in 1984 to care for her aunt, Lucille Davis
Chun, who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1988.
She was a member of West Union Baptist
Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Naomi Chapter No. 50, and the
Heroines of Jericho No. 459, Pride of Palestine.
She is survived by her daughter, Senora
Butler of Chicago; two grandchildren; and a devoted friend Marlin
Taylor of Paelstine. |
