Alma J. Taylor was born December 8, 1941 in Palestine, Texas to the late George and Nancy E. Taylor.  She was one of seven children.  She joined Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church under the pastorage of the Rev. Bennett at an early age. Alma Loved God and life.  She had compassion for others and loved her family and friends dearly.  She always had an open door policy for friends down on their luck.  If you needed a temporary place to live, she would always offer her home until you got on your feet. Alma attended elementary school at Fred Douglass School, junior high at Lincoln School and graduated from A.M. Story High School in 1959.  After graduation from high school, she married Melvin J. Parish and to that union no children were born, but she had step-children she loved dearly. She was employed over 15 years with Warner Brothers Records in Sales and Mostek/SGS Thompson Technologies as a Technician with computer chips.  During her journey she made many friends and may God make their healing time Short.  Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted.  (Matthew 5:4) She leaves to mourn two sisters; Ruby J. Deadmon (Lee), and Bernadine Taylor.  Four brothers:  Jesse L. Taylor (Joann), Lewis E. Taylor (Geraldine) and Kenneth E. Taylor (Pamela,) James J. Taylor (Azalean), three step-children:  Sharon Paris, Renee Swanson and Terrence Paris, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. May her memory live on forever.

Services for Alma Joyce Taylor-Paris will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Roy G. Duncan officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home, Mrs. Taylor-Paris died December 6 at her Dallas residence. She was born Dec. 8, 1941 in Palestine to George and Nancy Muse Taylor. Mrs. Taylor-Paris attended Fred Douglass Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School and graduated from A.M. Story High School in 1959. Shew as formerly married to Melvin J. Paris.  She was employed at Warner Brothers Records and Mostek/SGS Thompson Technologies. Mrs. Taylor-Paris was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by sisters, Ruby J. Deadmon of Dallas and Bernadine Taylor of Palestine; brothers, Jesse I Taylor of San Bernadino, Calif., Lewis E. Taylor of Houston, Kenneth E. Taylor of MOreno Valley, Calif., and James Taylor of Palestine; stepchildren, Sharon Paris, Renee Swanson and Terrence Paris. Active pallbearers will be Fred Decluette, Vernon Denmon, Clarence Muse, Marvin Parrish and Travis West. The A.M. Story High School Class of 1959 will be honorary pallbearers. Visitation from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
