Caretha Carr Muse

Died:  8 March 1997 - Denton, Texas

Caretha Carr Muse departed this life on Saturday, March 8, 1997 in Denton, Texas.  She was the first child born to Fannie and Walter Carr.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mr. Leander Muse; Son, Leander Muse, Jr.; Sister, Eula Mims and Brother, Hillary Carr.
Caretha was born in Palestine, Texas on July 31, 1908.  She was educated in the public schools of Anderson County.  Her religious training began at an early age at the Anderson Chapel AME Church in Palestine.  She united with Grant Chapel AME after marriage in 1928.  At Grant Chapel she served as a stewardess for many years, honored as "Mother of the Year" in 1995 and also served in other auxiliaries of the church.  her family was recognized as "Family of the Year" in 1977 by the Business and Professional Women's Club of Palestine.  She was also a member of Naomi Chapter #50 of the Eastern Star.  her number one priority was the caring of the religious and educational upbringing of her children and grandchildren.  She was highly recognized in Palestine because of her character and desire to help others.
She is survived by 5 daughters:  Lucretia Jones of Denton, Texas; Doris Marie Brown, Fannie L. Davis, and Jenell Hollie, of Ft. Worth, Texas; and Daisy Jean White of Missouri City, Texas; 3 sons:  Robert E. Muse of Houston, Texas; Clarence L. Muse of Dallas, Texas; and Charles Muse of Ft. Worth, Texas; 5 grandsons and 10 granddaughters:  17 great grandchildren; 4 sons-in-law:  Henry Jones, Alexander Davis, Phinis Hollie, and Leroy White; 2 daughters-in-law:  Linnie Muse and Barbara Muse; 1 sister, Ora Dial of Palestine, Texas; 2 sisters-in-law:  Nancy Taylor of Palestine, Texas and Estella Muse of Austin, Texas; many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
