A. J. Earp

A. J. Earp is listed in the 1910 Anderson County Texas Federal Census on precinct 6 enumeration district 23 image 5b; He is listed as 60 years old born Georgia. Both his parents are shown as being born in Georgia. His wife Mary Jane Earp, age 62, born Georgia with both her parents being born in Georgia. Mary Jane Earp is shown as the mother of six children ith three living. Their daughters Mary C. Earp, age 32, and Annie Earp, age 28, were born in Georgia. His grandson, Charley Seal Earp, age 6, was born in Texas. His mother is presumed to be Annie Earp since she is shown as the mother of one living child. Charley's father is shown as being born in Wisconsin.

A. J. Earp is buried in the Neches City Cemetery. The tombstone records his birth date 17 October 1849 and that he died 21 February 1917.

Body Fished From River.

Palestine, Texas, Feb. 23. - The body of A. J. Earl of the Neches community, near this city, was fished out of the Neches river Thursday with a 50-pound rock tied around his neck. Deceased left a note tied to a grubbing hoe where he had been working stating he was going to drown himself. He leaves a widow and two daughters.
