| Thomas M. Daniel was rejected for a Confederate Pension. He filed June 25, 1909 where he stated he was 67 years old, born Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He had been in Texas since 1869 and had lived in Anderson County for 29 years. His address was Palestine, Texas. He joined the confederate army May 1st, 1861 and served with Company B, 8th Tennessee Cavalry. He was discharge April 26, 1865. His witnesses were Z. A. McReynolds and J.B. Phillips. Additional witnesses were H. D. W. Patterson, a private in Co. B, 8th Tennessee Cavalry who lived in Foard County Texas and T. C. Webb, a 1st Lieutenant in Co. B, 8th Tennessee Cavalry who lived in McLennan County Texas. The Adjutant General's Office of the War Department said this about Mr. Daniel's service: "The records show that Thomas _ Daniels (name not found as Thomas M. Daniel), private, Company B, 13th (Gore's) Tennessee Calvary (also known the 8th Tennessee Calvary), Confederate States Army, was enlisted April 1, 1863. On the roll of the company June 30 to December 31, 1864, only roll on which name is borne, he is reported deserted December 19, 1864. No later record found." His pension was rejected August 31, 1909. |

was found Thos. Daniel who died 15 May 1916 at Tarrant County, Texas. He was born 4 July 1843 in Tennessee. He was married but
his wife's name was not listed. His father's name is R. K. Daniel who was born in Tennessee. His mother's name is A. R.
Dunn. He was buried in Palestine on 17 May 1916.

Thomas Daniel age 65 years old was found on the
1910 Anderson County Texas Federal Census with his wife Betty
Daniel age 58 years old. This was the first marriage for both and
they had been married for 36 years. Mrs. Daniel has had four
children of which all are living. Mr. Daniel and his mother was born
in Tennessee. His father was born in Can [Canada] (French).

Thos. M. Daniel age 56 years old born July 1843 in
Tennessee was found on the 1900 Anderson County Texas Federal Census
with his wife Mrs. Sarah E. Daniel age 49 years old born Jul 1851 in
Mississippi, daughter Edna Daniel age 21 born March 1879 in
Mississippi and son Alpha Daniel age 13 May 1887 in Texas. Thomas
and Sarah had been married for 26 years and Sarah had 4 children
which were all living. Also in the household was S Law [son in law] Henry Moore age 28 born December 1871 in Texas, Henry's wife Mrs. Eva Moore age 23 born August 1876 in Mississippi and their daughter Bessie Moore age 8 months born September 1899 in Texas. Also in the household are Joe Carry age 40 born December 1859 in Alabama and his wife Leona Carry age 36 born October 1863 in Texas.
