Asa’s death certificate states that he was born in Louisiana, but his obituary states that he was a native of Georgia. He was the son of Uriah Jasper Bell and Nancy Luana Bell. His parents are also buried in Bell Cemetery. He married Iva Starr on 23 December 1896 in Anderson County Texas. Their sons, Horace Newman Bell and Uriah A. Bell, N. Howard Bell and daughters, Nancy May Bell Crawford, Erma Bell Tharp, and Iva Clarinda Bell Black, are also buried in Bell Cemetery. He died at the home of his son, Uriah Bell, in Anderson County. He was survived by his wife; one son; three daughters, Irma Bell of Fort Worth, Iva Clarenda Bell Black and Fay Bell Elliott of Elkhart; two brothers, Jay Bell of Palestine and Logan Bell of California. His obituary appeared in the Palestine Daily Herald, Sunday, 19 March 1944. |
